I just wanted to say thanks to those of you who comment on my blog. It's so fun to see when my friends and family are interested in my ramblings. I've always know that I need far more attention than is healthy and reading your comments helps feed my obsession. Who knows maybe someday I'll grow up!

Happy Halloween!

Tonight we had our King Family Halloween Party. We had chili & cinnamon rolls for dinner, played Who Am I? and carved pumpkins. We missed Zac, Richie & Robbie. Zac had to work, Richie had FHE in his student ward & Robbie is still in the Netherlands. Amanda only got to stay a few minutes before she left for her siblings closing night of Little Women. Good job Ty & Amanda and Emorie for dressing up! Ty reverted to his old school army days, Amanda was a college coed and Emorie was a butterfly. Even Sophie came as Dracula & Izzy as a True Aggie. I wanted to wear my witch costume but we thought it would be too scary for Emmy! I'll put a picture of it when I dress up for school on Friday. We had a good time and managed to get our pumpkins carved without any mishaps!

Tagged - All about Ted!

I love this tag because it gives me a chance to talk about my favorite man in the world! There are five great runner-ups, but he's a hands down winner for favorite!

Where we met? Ted and I were introduced by his cousin Darrell & his wife Alice. Alice and I were in the summer musical and I was complaining about how boring life was now that I had graduated. Blind dates work out more than people realize!

How long we dated? We really clicked right from the start and less than three weeks later, we were engaged. Since I had graduated less than two months before and hadn't know him for very long, I told him we had to get a ring immediately because no one would believe me without it! We spent the next 3 months getting to know each other. On November 6th we'll celebrate our 27th anniversary. He's still my favorite person to hang out with!

How long we've been married? Almost 27 years. Wow! I still can't believe it's been that long.

What is my favorite feature about him? When I was getting ready for our first date I worried what shoes to wear. I always hated being taller than guys so I didn't want to wear something with heels in case he wasn't too tall. My mom said I'd better wear something flat because the Kings are short. She was thinking of Darrell. I was so relieved when I watched him pull his 6'3" out of his Bronco. So definitely my favorite feature is his height!

What is my favorite quality about him? My favorite thing about Ted is how much he loves me. He always puts me first. Even before the Aggies! And that's saying something. The boys always knew the fasted way to make their dad really mad was to disrespect me. Even know if I get my feelings hurt he's ready to step in and make it right. He'll even take me to Salt Lake for the weekend and spend the majority of the time at the mall helping me find some great bargains. I love clothes and definitely spend too much money on them, but I never buy anything that isn't a good deal. It takes a long time to find the best stuff at the best price and he didn't even complain. I think I saw him roll his eyes once, but never complaining.

What is his nickname for me? Ted calls me honey most of the time, babe occasionally and if I'm being a tease or a pest he calls me Cynthia Yonk, the little old lady that my parents named me after. I think that's my favorite one of all!

What is his favorite color? Any of you that knew Ted's mom know how much she loved pretty things and Ted is a lot like that. Right now his favorite shirt is a orange sherbet colored polo shirt. He also love pretty ties! Another carry over from his mom.

What is his favorite food? Ted's favorite food is without a question beef. Especially prime rib or a really good New York Steak. But, he also loves unique and different foods. When we go on cruises his favorite thing is to have the snails, duck ala orange, lamb with mint jelly, calamari . . . . . you get the picture. It's great because he can try a ton of new and different things without having to pay the big prices!

What is his favorite sport? Definitely Aggie football & basketball. The sport he enjoys playing the most is golf, but he'd much rather watch an Aggie ballgame even if we lose. He has started biking and loves to ride around Lewiston, Trenton, Cove, Franklin & Fairview. I tag along sometimes and left his draft pull me along!

What is our favorite thing to do as a couple? We love to travel together! Especially on cruises. Lately we've tried to take one a year. I love to go someplace warm especially during the winter. When we aren't travelling we love to eat out and then come home and watch a movie.

How many kids do we have? We have 5 sons, 1 daughter-in-law and 1 granddaughter.

What is his hidden talent? He's a great impersonator. Especially of Tom Jones. But he's too self conscious to show it in front of others. Only my family has ever seen his Tom Jones and it was a long time ago!

What do I admire most about him? Definitely his love for the gospel and his family. We definitely come first! He works so hard to take care of all of us and he's very reliable and dedicated in his church callings. I'm so grateful for the example he sets of a righteous priesthood holder and family patriarch. I love you honey!

My eight favorite TV shows:
1. American Idol. I watch this religiously and am always sad when the season ends.
2. The Office
3. Ummmm. . . . . . Okay, I guess there aren't really any other TV shows that I actually watch! If the family is watching a football game or if Ted is watching the Travel Channel or Food Network, I watch while I'm cooking or doing something else, but really I'd rather watch a movie or relax on my bed reading a book with my dogs lying next to me.

My eight favorite restaurants: (in no particular order)
Costa Vida, Coppermill, Olive Garden, Ruby River Steakhouse, Hamiltons, Mis Amores, Cafe Sabor, Spencer's Steakhouse in SLC, any cruise ship dining room!

Eight things that happened yesterday:
Woke up and said my morning prayers, went to exercise at the church, went to work, ran to Big J's to get Jenifer & I a taco for lunch (yum!), played the piano for the chorus class, lost my cool with some kids that were messing with the choir room door, went to Mis Amores after work with my sister Tarea for my belated birthday lunch (thanks Tarea!), went for a walk with Ted and the puppies, babysat the cutest baby girl in the world!, went to a stake young women presidency training, gave the same cutest baby girl in the world a bath, rocked the cutest and best smelling baby girl in the world to sleep! A great day!

Eight things I am looking forward to: (in chronological order)
1. Going to Salt Lake with Ted tomorrow to spend the night, shop for my birthday (yeah!) and eat at The Red Iguana & Spencer's.
2. Aggie basketball!
3. Robbie coming home from his mission on Thanksgiving Day! Also taking a new family picture. The last one was taken 4 days before Ty left on his mission in January 2002.
4. The potential for more daughter-in-laws & subsequently more adorable grandchildren!
5. Our cruise to Acapulco and the Mexican Riviera in January.
6. Our long awaited family vacation to Hawaii in June.
7. Our stake youth conference to Martin's Cove in July.
8. Someday in the future being in the temple with our entire family. :-)

Fun with Emorie

Last night Emorie came to play while Ty & Amanda went to see her siblings perform in Little Women at the Ellen Eccles Theater. We had such a great time! She played with toys, sang songs and ate goldfish crackers. When she was eating crackers with Ted he asked, "Are they good?" to which she quickly
nodded her head. When I sang the baby fish song she opened and closed her hand like a little fish. What a smart little girl! After a bath and a few more snacks, she and I rocked and sang songs until she fell asleep. I got to sit and snuggle with her until Ty & Amanda got back. It was so much fun to spend the evening with our sweet little Emmy!

Great Job Daren!

Today Daren received his Eagle Scout award. We are so grateful that he made the decision to complete the requirements to receive this award especially since it means so much to the Abrams family. We really appreciate the outpouring of love and support that Daren received from his friends and family. It was so obvious there is great love and concern for him!

Scouting was always important to Grandpa Abrams. He realized it was an excellent vehicle for helping young men as they grow and learn to serve others. We are so grateful that all of Daren's big brothers and Abrams' uncles as well as Grandpa Dean and most of his cousins have set such a great example in earning this award. We are so grateful we were blessed with this great family! We love you guys!

It's official!

Today we received an email from Robbie's mission with his flight information! He will be flying into SLC International on Thursday, November 27th at 6:40 pm. These pictures are from one of his areas in the Netherlands. In case you've ever seen "The Best Two Years", you might recognize the train station. I know he'll miss Belgium & the Netherlands, but we're looking forward to having him back home. It's hard to believe that it's been nearly two years! It will be so great to finally all be together again. Since Ty left on his mission in January of 2002, we have had overlapping missionaries. We've loved having all of our sons so far serve missions even though we've always been at least 1 boy short! See you soon Robbie!
